Chickasaw legend tells of a Great White Dog that protected the people during their long journy east following the direction of the leaning Kohta Falaya, Sacred Pole. The dog had had the power to heal by licking the wounds of the people.

Unfortunately, the dog was lost while the people were trying to cross the mighty Mississippi river.
